Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen and can irritate those with allergies and other respiratory issues. Now to be fair to bamboo flooring, formaldehyde is also found in anything made with pressed-wood products such as furniture and cabinets. Particle board and plywood are some of the more common pressed-wood materials.
